Empowering Young Minds for Tomorrow

At LAFF Lab Inc, we believe every child deserves access to diverse learning experiences that empower them for a brighter future. Our nonprofit learning center in the Bronx focuses on Languages, Agriculture, Finance, and Fitness, catering specifically to students in grades 5-8. By collaborating with local schools, libraries, and after school programs, we create a nurturing environment where young learners can explore foreign languages, engage with agronomy and horticulture, master fitness routines, and understand financial platforms like crypto and FOREX. With the support of generous donations, we strive to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and equip the next generation with the essential skills for success.

What's the LAFF Lab?

The L.A.F.F Lab (or LAFF Lab) is a proposed nonprofit education center teaching Languages, Agriculture, Finance, and Fitness. Students and staffers will be known as “Laffers”. Focusing on foreign languages of trade and diplomacy, agronomy and horticulture, physical exercises, and learning fintech platforms such as crypto and forex. There will also be fitness instructors to help students develop a healthy physique.

Jean Marseille was inspired to formulate the LAFF concept following three months of working in the New York City elementary school system. The idea was triggered after he observed the students' day-to-day activities. He realized the many curricula concentrated on STEM, while little-to-no attention was given to physical fitness, early financial literacy, and language skills (aside from English and Spanish). What was even more poignant was the number of students suffering from early childhood obesity. This condition was exacerbated by the nutritionally deficient quality of most school cafeteria food. Mr. Marseille felt a desire to address this concern. But he’s also a realist. Meaning that trying to overhaul the entire system would not seem feasible. However, he understands some of these concerns could be mitigated through an extracurricular program. This is why the LAFF Lab is necessary.

Our community-based learning center will not exist isolated in the vacuum of space. But we will forge a symbiotic relationship with local schools in order to attract interested and qualified students. The goal is to build a sustainable community resource that will last decades.

How's LAFF different from STEM?

The LAFF (Language, Agriculture, Fitness, Finance) concept was intended to be a supplement to the now famous STEM academic model. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) While the two concepts share some overlapping features and benefits, the value of the LAFF model can be transferred to any stage of the student's life beyond the classroom. The end goal of the LAFF curriculum is to promote self-sufficiency and social adaptability beyond the confines of a technical working environment.

While STEM equips students with job skills in order to compete in this fourth Industrial Revolution. LAFF is designed to supply them with life skills that will supplement STEM, in order to make more well-rounded future adults. Both academic concepts and models can work in complementary synergy.  (See the table of comparison)
